In the light of crowns

A special art project as solace in dark times. The sales workshop turned into mysterious viewing cabinets, filled with an abundance of shiny crowns and other beautiful things. In the winter of 2021-2022, Katinka’s private crown domains could be seen under the title ‘In the light of crowns’.

For months she worked with angelic patience on the presentation. Paper was the base, but for a bit of royal allure she added numerous beads and rosettes. “Just call it a fantasy garden, a world in which I feel at home and hopefully the viewer too,” she says.

Katinka deliberately opted for viewing cabinets. This way she could still show her work in bad times. “Due to corona, people are less likely to enter the house,” she explains. “Now they can see in through the holes from the outside, as if a hidden crown collection is waiting for them there. They could forget the trouble for a while.”

‘In the light of crowns’ coincided with the Dordrecht December days, during which the monumental bridges in the historic city center were highlighted.
